(Hopefully) good sports essays and observations for good sports by a guy who tries (and can sometimes fail) to be a good sport.

Landon Donovan Gets Serious

I've blogged before that I wondered about the commitment of Landon Donovan to be among the best in the world if he didn't play professionally among the best. Yes, the MLS is a good league, but it's not the English Premiership. Donovan has been on loan to Everton, where he's played great. This is a great development for U.S.A. Soccer, which now has many good players playing among the world's best in the top leagues in Europe. In order for the U.S. to become a serious contender in World Cup play, its players must hone their skills in the elite leagues. So, cheers for Landon Donovan, who's crossed the pond and is distinguishing himself.
